The dream for me is to have all my family and maternity clients be people who joined the KCM family as wedding clients. There's something so special about documenting the various chapters of a life, from engagement and wedding to pregnancy and family photos, that makes me feel truly honored. Caroline and Kyle were one of my first ever wedding couples and helped me get one step closer to my dream because they chose me to take their maternity photos!

Shortly after their beautiful Catholic wedding at St. Gregory in Virginia Beach, Caroline found out that she would be moving to D.C. and Kyle would be staying in the Tidewater region because they are a dual-military couple (both of them are active duty service members). On top of being long-distance in their first year or so of marriage, Caroline and Kyle learned they would also be experiencing the ups and downs of pregnancy and impending parenthood.

As I was working with Caroline and Kyle to order their wedding album and prints, I kept thinking about what kind humans they were and hoping that we'd keep in touch. I am so incredibly grateful that they continue to be part of my life and that we were able to make these photos work despite Caroline living hours away from us!

Let's face it August is HOT and GROSS. I have zero desire to be out taking photos in the evening heat and humidity. So even though it meant two early morning alarms in a row (I really don't do well with no sleep), when Caroline asked to move their session to sunrise, I did, and it was soooooo worth it. The sunrise was nothing short of gorgeous. We had a colorful sky and soft light that perfectly illuminated Caroline, Kyle, and the Cape Henry lighthouses in the distance.

Caroline and Kyle were willing to get in the water a bit, which felt amazing in the early morning warmth, so they went on a little stroll through the surf and even had a some playful moments kicking the water around. As the sun came up we went in past the dunes to be a bit closer to the lighthouses and so Caroline could have a quick outfit change.

These two once again rocked their photos and we were able to really celebrate their journey to parenthood with lots of tender moments and smiles for their little one. Congratulations, Caroline and Kyle, I can't wait to meet your little one and watch you learn and grow in parenthood!
