I’m Kayla, your light + natural wedding photographer
Hey there! I'm a wedding photographer in Lafayette, Indiana (if you're getting married somewhere else but think we're the right fit, fear not! I travel!) As a mom, military spouse, and cusp of the pandemic bride, I understand that life moves quickly, and it is easy for your wedding day to disappear in the blink of an eye. I use my unique combination of knowledge and experience to help you keep calm, comfortable, and confident throughout your day so you can stay present and enjoy every beautiful moment.
A LOVER OF FAMILY, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND Yoga
My love stories - my husband and my photography - were both a bit of a whirlwind, but when something feels right, I listen to that intuition. I met my husband, Kyle, while I was working at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. The first week we met, we went on three dates (and I'll let you in on a little secret - I knew by the end of our first date that I was going to marry him)! We were married in 2020, the day before lockdowns were initiated for COVID. Instead of going on a honeymoon, we became dog parents to our beautiful Aussie, Bo, and just one year later we welcomed our son, Jude, to the world!
It took a bit longer for me to turn my love of photography into a career. I picked up my first camera in 2015, but kept it as a hobby until 2022 when Kyle was deployed. Kyle had told me for years that he knew I'd start my own business someday, I just needed time to figure out what that business was. Deployment gave me plenty of time to explore my options, so even though I was balancing solo parenting and living in a new place, I took advantage of this time alone to become a yoga teacher and launch Kayla Petrosky Photography!
I believe that great photos start with a great experience
Every good relationship starts with a strong connection, which is why the first step to working with me is all about getting to know each other before you ever set foot in front of my camera. By the time your wedding day rolls around, you're going to be so used to laughing, playing, cuddling, and kissing your partner while I'm around that you won't think twice about it.
