Fun and Intimate Wedding
Emma and Jake wanted their wedding celebration to reflect their personalities - intimate, fun, and well-organized! More than a month out from their wedding day, Emma provided a thorough packet of information to each vendor, tailored to the information we specifically needed for the big day. She didn't even need to fill out my questionnaire because she knew what I would be asking and included all of it in my packet. I never felt so prepared for a wedding in my life!
One of my favorite things about the Historic Post Office is the gorgeous natural light in the bridal suite. To find a room so superbly decorated that also has stunning lighting and makes your bride look INCREDIBLE is so rare. I remember audibly gasping when I took my venue tour prior to the wedding because I could not believe how perfect the space was. Emma and her nine bridesmaids used it well - a line of bridesmaids doing their hair and makeup along the back wall of mirrors was a constant for the entire morning. As were the regular make sure they were ready to go by their assigned time!
Emma + Jake said "I do" at The Historic Post Office in Hampton, VA
Before they said "I do" though, Emma and Jake did a first look and private vow reading. Jake is a deeply private person, so the idea of reciting long, heartfelt vows in front of their guests was not ideal for him. Luckily, when we chatted about timelines at our coffee date, Emma mentioned this and we were able to include time for this special moment in their day. They did their first look on the front steps of The Historic Post Office and moved right into their private vow reading as my team circled them, taking an endless number of photos and trying really hard to not listen in on their private moment together.
Emma + Jake celebrated their marriage with good food, loved ones, and a champagne spray
Since their ceremony was set to start around sunset, Emma and Jake did most of their portraits together after doing their vow reading, which was really convenient because it allowed them to enjoy their cocktail hour, spend time with guests, and party the night away! Near the end of the evening Emma pulled me aside and said "Hey! We want to do a champagne spray on the steps!" and I'm a sucker for champagne sprays so I was right behind them as they walked out the door with bottles in hand. Flash during a champagne spray makes for an extra fun effect!
