Engagement Photos in Newport News Park

I met Erin for coffee while Andrew was out to sea...planning a wedding while you have a partner in the military brings so many unique challenges. You have to have an immense amount of trust and understanding with your partner to know that you're making the choices that you'll both be happy with in the long run, especially if you have a partner who cares as much as you do about how your wedding day looks and feels, which is definitely the case for Erin and Andrew!

These two are both planners who love the details. When Andrew proposed, he made sure to include two of Erin's favorite things: puzzles and dinosaurs. When Erin started planning their wedding, she had an incredible vision full of honeybees, embroidered flowers, and garden party vibes. At our coffee date, Erin was most of the way done with booking their honeymoon travel, lodging, and activities, even though Andrew was out to sea and their trip was nearly 6 months away!

Creative + Personalized Engagement Photos

Knowing all of these things about Erin and Andrew, I was not surprised in the slightest when they showed up to their session with a box full of props that would allow them to really show their personalities through their photos. From board games to an umbrella (we were expecting rain until a few hours before) to a letterboard, Erin and Andrew knew what they wanted and how to bring it to life.

Even if they hadn't brought all their props, their personalities would've shown through spectacularly in their photos. I was able to capture little moments of funny faces, dancing (Erin was a dance teacher!!!), and genuine moments of laughter like this sweet moment on the bridge in the Japanese Garden at Newport News Park.

Congratulations on your engagement, Erin and Andrew! I can't wait to see you again soon for your spring wedding!
